Christmas Christmas time is here!!!

Yeah the day has FINALLY come that we go to Houston. I guess some of the stress of everyday life has smothered a little bit of my Christmas spirit. As soon as Thanksgiving came around I was so excited. But with David being gone for most of the month I have realized that Christmas is really only fun when you are around the people you love. So that is why I am so excited about coming home.

Yesturday we worked our selves raw cleaning the apartment because one of David's buddy's is taking care of the cats and we don't want people to know that we are dirty dirty people. Which reminds me that we are leaving our sweet little friends alone while we are gone. But the two little boogers are getting along so well. They "fight" every once and a while but most of all they are sweet to each other. And they both sleep with us all night. We are finally a family. Here is Rigbey's most recent photo he he, isn't he so sweet.

I can't wait to go home and see my family. I have missed them so much while I have been so far away. It is going to be great to be back in Texas with my family. But this is our first holiday season with sharing between families. The planning has been unpleasantly stressfull. David doesn't get very much time off this year and so we have to do a whirl wind trip it seems again. But I will soak up every last bit of family and Grammy's gingerbread!

So Merry Christmas people! Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season. The P.O. Times will return after the holidays.

Another Day

It is yet another day, and yet another day without David. My life is so not blog worthy when he is out to sea. So yes I am still alive and excited about the holidays and loving our new kitten but other than that.... yeah I am a boring person.

Three's a crowd, Four is a family

I am nearing closer to knowing what it feels to have a familiy. I don't have a picture of all of us yet, but some day I can post our family photo... don't hold your breath.

Abbey and Rigbey are having more contact. It aint hiss free contact yet. Abbey just wants Rigbey to know "Don't come lickin' my fingers or nothin'." and Rigbey says "You look like my mommy!" So there is a little confusion.

But Abbey comes out of her room and slept underneath our bed last night. I don't want to rush Abbey, she moves slow when it comes to making friends (like me) I at least want her to move at her own pace. So we are almost a family. Of course that would require David to come home. Yet alas.

David and Goliath

The most frustrating thing about being a military spouse is the lack of control over your lives. You never know when you are going to have time with your husband, what he is going to be doing, and if something ever goes wrong he can't get angry or complain. And we have recently realized that you never know when someone else's mistake will cause you not to get paid.

Things are not that dismal though thanks to our savings. It is just more frustrating than anything just cause you can't get mad at anyone. No one can get fired or introuble or reimburse us. It is like biting your tongue when you know you are right. It is funny that David has sacrificed his life and our life together to protect what this country stands for, and in doing so we lose so many rights. It is ironic.

But I know that David loves his work. He enjoys supporting our country in this way, and I support him in what ever he does. So in that way we enjoy our lives attached to the military. And they really take care of David. But no so much me or any other spouse. But this is just our life and we have to deal with it I guess, but when stuff like this happens while David is out to sea it is so frustrating. I can't do anything about it because it is all on the boat.

Things could be worse. At least our money is coming... eventually.

Fun Fact

Well David is out to sea again so there is a lack of exciting news around here. Abbey and Rigbey have not made up just yet, although Abbey has come out of her room. We are making progress. But without David it is a wee bit borning and I must resort to bizzare information that pops up on the AOL welcome screen. At least I thought it was interesting.

Some scientists have found a new creature. Is it a spider, a fish? Oh No! A mammal.
It is a little bit larger than a house cat but has a long bushy tail. It a carnavore and they found it on the island of Borneo.

Isn't that crazy. How many years have we been studying the animal kingdom and new things all the time.

Not only am I going to provide you with a fun fact about new finds in the animal world. I am going to give a geography lesson. If you are wondering where Borneo is it is Indonesia. So now that you are fully informed on the goings on of the world. And I will provide a map.

That is all from the Analee Educational Network. Hope you have a nice day.

O' Holiday Tree?

We went to get our tree last night. Up here in Washington you can get the fullestest and freshest trees for so cheap. Not like in Texas where a Douglas Firr costs $40 and a Noble Firr is out of control expensive. We got our Douglas Firr, (6ft and full like I have never seen and we got a skinny one) for 18 bucks. I am not usually one to talk about money, my mom says it isn't appropriate, but have you ever heard of an 18 dollar tree that is actually pretty? Pretty Cool.

Speaking of trees, have you heard of this mess about Christmas trees not being called Christmas trees but Holiday Trees? Yeah. I said it. Some nerds out there are saying that Christmas Tree is not a politically correct term anymore. Are you kidding me? Seriously. I read in an article in USA Today that all over the country people are arguing that a Christmas Tree put in the public eye by the city or state is not separating of church and state and so that everyone can enjoy the Christmas Tree it should be called a Holiday Tree. Many people in response to this rediculous nonsense said that what next, we have to call a menorah a candlestick? The only reason we have a tree is because of Christmas and even more funny it's roots are in pagan ritual. Some Christians don't even participate in Christmas Trees because of it's pagan roots. Ha! And now the Christmas Tree is ofending once again. You can not rename something just because everyone doesn't agree. Soon anything will be ruined, renamed, and reshaped by political correctness. I understand that groups of people wish to be called different names but seriously

It is a Christmas Tree!!!
At least that is what I have in my living room.

Winter Wonderland

And it is a winter wonderland here. In Seattle proper the snow did not stick, but here oh my goodness it stuck and everywhere you look it is white! I used to say that the only time Abilene was a pretty city is when it is snow covered.

It is refreshing to see your environment all ready for the holiday season. Yippie! And our Christmas present came early this year. Little Rigbey is home although it was not easy.

I went to go pick him up the day after his surgery (he got fixed). When I got there they couldn't find him. An hour after I arrived they realised they had given him to someone else. Yes they gave him away! I was uh a little upset. I mean I hadn't even held him and I was starting to cry thinking of him given away. They called the guy who they adopted him to after we had already adopted him, and asked him to bring my kitty back. He was really upset because they wanted him too. I felt like the two mothers before Solomon. When I heard the Humane Society woman arguing with the guy I was sure that he was gone and I would never see him again. And I was sad, trying really hard not to lose it in front of these women. But amazingly the guy brought him back. And I know it was hard on his wife and I felt bad but he had only been with the other family for an hour. So he came home. Abbey is happy just yet, but Abbey moves at her own pace so I am not too worried yet.

Rigbey is a cuddle bug. He sleeps in my lap and not much else. I think he misses cuddling with his brothers. He is a sweet little boy. I can't get over how tiny he is. I just love him.

Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes!

It is snowing. During the day snow. Big fat floating flakes snow. Crossing your fingures it will stick snow.

I just love the snow. And so many people said it wouldn't snow up here and look! LOOK! And I am going to go watch it.

Hope your day is wintery and wonderful!!!
