Nibbles

My sweet little Abbey came to me after spending her kittenhood on the streets. I am sure she must have been starving because now she has an obsession with her bowl being filled with food. If it ever gets empty she gets anxious and has no problem screaming till any amount of pellets of food are placed in her bowl. Now this could get quite out of hand and Abbey could become a fat Abbey so we had to work out a compromise. That compromise is what we call nibbles. Nibbles are five or six little kernels of food that we give her in between meals so she (a) doesn't have a heart attack and (b) shuts up.

So in honor of Abbey I give the avid readers five or six kernels of my life in the P.O., just so know one flips out because I haven't blogged in a while. So here are your Blog Nibbles!

1. David has been in and out of port so much lately it is even pointless now to mention it. They are usually short and sweet. I don't know where they go or what they do, but they go. It is always funny when we think about out to sea time we think well that six month cruise isn't till next year, but we forget the numerous underways that come before it. This year before the cruise they will be out cumulatively the same amount as a big cruise. Fun.

2. Speaking of kitties, they now share a litter box, occasionally lick each other (lovingly), and where even spotted napping in the computer chair together (however a tight fit, I have suggested the couch might be more comfortable).

3. I am working hard for RBC. The website is slowly coming around. There are a thousand million zillion little bitty things that have to be done and just because the program is the way it is, those little bitty changes and adjustments take a long time. But look through it and see all the hard work that I have been putting in. http://www.realtynewsreport.com/

4. Yes it is still raining. And surprisingly no, I do not have vitamin D deficiency.

5. I have been making new friends. Sadly though many have already moved on, :( and some are on David's ship so when he is gone they are gone. But my good friend Brianne has moved to the area, although being a bad friend I haven't gotten to see her. I am still trying to convince my best friend Christi to move up here, but it takes money to move so does anyone know if it is possible to adopt a 23 year-old if I am 22? It seems to be the only way.

Now if anymore nibbles are required just ask nicely and I will give you some. The correct way to ask is a very specific "Mah Wow!"

ps- the picture in my previous post has been changed thanks to my mom who is now my accomplished pupil and scanned the photo all by herself. Kudos Mom!

Still Pretending

I remember as a kid, my sister and I did not play video games, play outside games, or even with dolls as much as we used to pretend. Maybe this is why we are the creative people that we are today.

We used to play church, train, boat and our favorite: SCHOOL! I may complain that I had to be all of the 21 students, the teacher next door, the principal and if needed that student's parents; but I liked playing pretend. Except for my talent being spread a little thin, it was fun to be someone else, to really feel like you were somewhere doing something you couldn't do in your real life. In all honesty, I think we went over board. I am talking actually taking math quizes and planing out who would answer what because some kids were smart, dumb, or cheating. But what a blast. I mean the roller skating in the garage to Amy Grant was pretty fun too.

I thought that I had grown out of the pretending thing, but I have realized that I still pretend quiet often. Everytime David puts my wedding rings on I make him pretend he is proposing again, it is silly but I like it. I pretend I am crying to get the cats to come and lay with me which works, but annoys David so we use David's cell phone ring which Abbey cannot resist.

We have also had to throw out the calendar and pretend holidays and special days are on days when David is in port. When we were dating we never got to spend an actual anniversary together so we just called them date nights. I was really excited about this Valentine's Day because I have never had a Valentine and this year and next year David will be gone. On my birthday this year I spent it all alone because David was in school all day and practically all night, we waited till the weekend and by that time it was David's 21st birthday and all his friends wanted to take him out. I was also planning a romantic get away to Galveston to the hotel where we got married for our anniversary but they will be out to sea. They don't even get The 4th of July, crazy. So we will have to pretend it is Valentine's Day and pretend it is our 1 year anniversary. I am just glad we didn't save the cake for 1 year later and then David doesn't get to eat it. I still really want my Valentine's Day or anniversary or birthday, but it just seems as if I will have to continue to pretend untill David gets a shore duty... hopefully soon.

P.S. Yesturday me and David saw a bald eagle flying over the bay near David's base, it was only 15 feet away and looked amazing! If you didn't catch that I SAW A BALD EAGLE!!!!!!! Too cool.

Everything will work itself out

I am starting to believe that maybe everything will work itself out. I guess lately one of the reasons I have not been doing a whole lot and taking chances that I normally would have was because I was afraid and worried of making the same mistakes and just being that screw up. But it is when I let go that I feel confident and able to do anything. Eventually stuff does just work out alright. Especially my little babies there, lying next to each other like they were never anything but friends. (Isn't Rigby getting so big!?!)

"Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin" Mathew 6:28 I used to read that and think well duh they don't toil they are flowers, real tough life that flowers have going for them there. But maybe there is some truth in it. Not that bad things will never come along, I think we are promised that they will, but that it will pass. Maybe if I can live my life with less worry of the pain that I will encounter and more on the joys this will be a better year.

Usually I hate new years. Mostly because it is all over the place about starting new, new body, new career, new goals and it reminds me that I have so much that I could do better on. I hate society telling me I am not good enough. But I guess I have gotten to a point where geesh I DO need to change some stuff. I don't exercise, and I need to. I eat to feel happy, and I really need to stop that. And with my list that grows and grows I tend to feel over whelmed. But this year I pledge on the internet-to the world- (really just leah and michael but part of my other goal is to get my blog readership up) that I will achieve some of my goals by taking baby steps. Cause what is so wrong with baby steps, they are still steps.

So I move forward however slowly.

24...25...26...

I am not counting to thirty for hide and go seek but our nearing month of consecutive rain. When I say it has not stopped raining since we arrived back in Washington I am not exaggerating, we are on day 26 of straight rain. Yes sir. How can I live like this you ask? It is not easy. I do not like to get out of bed, it is the perfect light and sound and well the kitties are doing what kitties do, FORCING me to sleep in. Really, it is some chemical thing.

It is depressing yet, it is just me missing the sun. Which came out for an hour a few days ago, but then went away again. The record is 33 straight days in 1955. So the rain keeps falling and falling and falling and falling...

So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, good night

Another Navy Life Post

I have never had to experice yet the coming and going of friends made in the Navy. David's old roommate and friend in his department is being sent overseas...on Saturday. It is really tough because the three of us really really get along. And his girlfriend was in town for a few weeks and all four of us just really really enjoy each other's company. So it is a bitter goodbye.

We finally found someone that we can trust and be really good friends and the Navy sends him away. My first experience with a goodbye I didn't expect. But tht is the military for you. A life apart, a life of goodbyes. It is one of the hardest jobs out there. Goodie goodie gumdrops! I am so glad got sucked into this life.

Just one of the bittersweet aspects of the military life.

Adieu!

Decompression

Back by popular demand, Leah, I will comence posting again. It has been tough getting back into the swing of things. But here I am!

Well the holidays are over and the tree is coming down and all the decorations.:( I like the house being all dolled up and all that. The trip to Texas was great, I can never get over how much I love being home. It is weird that to me Houston is still home, my old bed is my bed. Although towards the end of the trip, mainly the seventh hour on the third plane of our trip, I was dying to be in my bed in P.O. Over all the trip was real nice the weather was so beautiful and made it so difficult to come back to the constant rain. David's dad was feeling bad and had to go into the hospital for Christmas. It was kinda a bummer but we are happy that this will help him to be healthier from now on. So our first Christmas together was stressful. We weren't prepared for all of the logistics and sharing of time. It was dissapointing not to get to do everything we wanted and we really didn't have any time for just ourselves. Yet we did get to see our families and that we the best thing of all.

The cats are doing splendid in fact. They have really warmed up to each other. Just today they slept on the couch together. Of course under supervison. The other day they were both asleep on my lap he he he he he he he. That family photo I talked about well it has finally arrived. I can't get over actually having a one big happy family. Aren't they sweet???

David and I have just celebrated our 6 month anniversary. Usually we don't keep track of all the little annversaries but six months was kinda shocking. It doesn't feel as long, possibly because at least 2 of those were spent apart. But it was neat to talk about is everything what we thought it would be and how far we have come in such a short time. David has learned how to make me feel better and I well of course I was and am perfect in this relationship. Right?

So hope everyone's holiday season was relaxing and wonderful.
