well enough is half done

Mary Poppins liked to clean the nursery but I didn't see her cleaning out her bag. In fact, she seemed to have a bit of a hoarding problem.

What the heck didn't she pull out of that carpet bag?! A moose?!

But I wish I had a little MP magic for my purse which can get a little scary. I don't know how it happens, I clean it out and then all the sudden I have
4 necklaces, 2 cell phones, 2 flash drives, pens, candy, a kindle, a birthday drawing for my mommy, a CoStar key, so many lipsticks and balms... and a pistachio.

That was in April.

I tried to find my keys this weekend and I was digging for a whole afternoon. This morning I went to put on my make up and didn't want to stick my hand in.... for fear a monster would bite it off! ACH! (I'm imagining the sand monster in Star Wars)

Don't look directly at it.That's bad right?
But at least there was only ONE necklace and no loose pistachios.

I dare you to look in your purse and tell me there aren't at least three expired coupons
and trash your husband slipped into the front pocket- cause you are the Carrier of Trash?

-- -- -- -- --

In other random, note worthy? things. I'm totally stuck on my green mini day dream. This little painting was looking down on me while I slept at Grammy's house this weekend. I've looked at it maybe 400 times. But this weekend I saw the ADORABLE mint green mini parked up the street. See the little mini parked on the corner? So cute.

AND Monday on the drive home from work, what did we see? A.Mint.Green.Mini. If that isn't a sign....
AND on Tuesday USAA called to tell us they wouldn't total dp's car and are fixing it. So long little mint mini. I was going to name you Monte Pistachio.

Olympian

Has anyone been so influenced by Olympic competition that you have been leaping over dust bunnies then presenting to the judges?

What about flexing your toes under your desk while internally whispering "double twist in the pike position...look at those toes pointed perfect form!"

Surely you've found yourself driving your spouse crazy with the nbc Olympic theme. Dada dada dada dudu da dada...

Yes?

toe piiiiick

Please excuse my excessive gushing over the Winter Olympics...

I love them.
As seen here during the Turino games.

My valentines day consisted of the Olympics. Not exagerating. David and I watched non-stop.

Please excuse my excessive gushing over DVR.
I love it.
It makes my life worth living.

First Pluto, now George?

About a couple of months ago, the science community shocked me with the news that Pluto would no longer be considered a planet. It is strange to have my childhood knowledge rewritten. Seriously, who here when asked how many planets are in our solar system jumps straight to the number 8, NO ONE! We all still think, oh nine.

Well, science again is shaking up American History. The face that we picture when we think of George Washington is no longer considered accurate.

George as we think of him:

What forensic scientist now believe he looked like:

Yes take out your 1 dollar bills and say goodbye to the face of George Washington. What next, Abe Lincoln didn't have a beard? The Lochness Monster has been found?

Ok. So not a monumental change in my life. But it is just strange. I'd love to see what other people think. I think the new George is kinda handsome. And it is kinda creepy to think this isn't a painting. I saw something on the Discovery channel where they did this to Tutankhmun (King Tut), it was real creepy too, and they found out that he died because of infection. Weird.

What a changing world we live in. Amazing.

But I am wondering, will I still be able to help my kids with their homework?

But please, read the article for yourself:http://articles.news.aol.com/news/_a/george-washington-cuts-a-fine-figure/20061014191809990026?ncid=NWS00010000000001

Poor Pluto

I feel very sad. Everything I thought I knew has changed, I am seriously rattled.

Pluto has been demoted from the 9th planet in our solar system to a dwarf planet.

For some reason this made me really sad. I remember learning about the planets as a kid and feeling attached to the littlest planet. Awwww. Don't we all like to root for the underdog, the little guy, or as David said "the little guy stuck freezing his butt off."

So poor Pluto. You may just be a ball of ice but we still love you. You will always be my 9th planet.

My favorite quote about poor Pluto is as follows:

"Demoting the icy orb named for the Roman god of the underworld isn't personal - it's just business - said Jack Horkheimer, director of the Miami Space Transit Planetarium and host of the PBS show "Star Gazer."It's like an amicable divorce," he said. "The legal status has changed but the person really hasn't. It's just single again.' "

What's in a name?

Well, something else to ease boredom across nation:

You can go to this site and see what you last name ranks in popularity.

According to this site, Bivins is surname number 5255 in the USA.

and surprisingly

Micheletti is not among the top 55,000 most common names in the US.

This is most surprising because I always thought Bivins was not very popular. Of course Micheletti isn't your everyday average name either. Anyway, I thought it was interesting.

Oh and good news David is coming home on Friday night!!! Woo hoo. Almost a month, of course they bring him home 3 days early so they don't pay us the family separation pay. Classy.

A Present For Me....

Ok well I am so completely excited I could hardly breathe. Tonight, as I sat down to my tv dinner, in front of the (how appropriate) tv, with my CareBear coloring book (a nightly ritual) I am shocked! What comes on CBS but BIG BROTHER!!!!

About 5 years ago, I fell in love, in love with this amazing tv show. Call me crazy but it is so completely fabulous. Almost as good as The Mole. (Which by the way, I would pay money to have back on tv, the normal, anderson cooper hosting, no celebrity Mole, yum.) Anyway, Big Brother was so amazing the second season with the terrible Will, who I LOVED to death!! Big Brother is what makes the summer worth suffering through.

This season of Big Brother is drum roll please............... ALL STAR BIG BROTHER!!!!!!! I know, I gasped as well, and maybe let out a little shriek of glee. And we, America get to vote for who we want to come back in the house. Man I love this country.

Please as a gift to me, if you have time stop by and at least vote for Will. Big Brother Season 7 Never before and never again have I loved a character like Will. But I also have a couple other favorites you might want to vote for, but about all WILL. I MUST HAVE WILL!! :)

1. Will
2. Kaysar (who is reminicent of Will just not as funny)
3. James (oh how I root for the underdog)
4. Jase (only because he is the biggest idiot, he is fun to watch)
5. Janelle (pure evil)
6. Alison (I just want to see Will eat Alison alive!)

Please. You have feel sorry for me. I live by my self, and my husband is gone, on a boat, I don't get to talk to him for months at a time. (are you feeling sorry for me yet?) Come on, it wouldn't be a summer without a great rip roarin' season of Big Brother. Whoo Hoo!

Please vote, it takes 2 seconds. http://www.cbs.com/primetime/bigbrother7/
watch video 2 to refresh your memory of funny, evil, Will

Will you still need me... oh wait I am 64!

Today Paul McCartney turns 64. he he he, now McCartney wrote a great song about 40 years ago entitled When I Am 64.

"When I get older losing my hair, many years from now. Will you still be sending me a Valentine? Birthday greetings bottle of wine...You can knit a sweater by the fireside. Sunday morning go for a ride. Doing the garden, digging the weeds, Who could ask for more? Will you still need me, will you still feed me, When Im sixty-four."
So lets all say it together:

"Paul, yes we still love you now that you are 64!"

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! Especially mine!! Love you Daddy!

Poppies or Kitties

My mind is on babies! My good friend Timmy is now a proud father of a baby girl, I have a beautiful baby kitten, and I am employed at a puppy sitter for one of David's coworkers. Ahhh little things. Rigby is not a little boy anymore. He gets bigger everyday, and more masculine. He has grown into a bigger meow, but occasionally still meeps.... when he wants to be picked up. And the little puppy I am babysitting is named The Riddler and is a Jack Russel Terrior puppy- 10wks old!!! So I play with him during the day when his parents are at work. :) What fun.

So this might be random, but read it anyway! I am having a possible brain fart or strike of genius one of the two and I need it cleared up.

In Wizard of Oz why exactally does the Wicked Witch want them to sleep? Is there another part of the plan that I have missed? Like the flying monkeys will come and scoop them up and they will be tortured, or they will be left to rot in a field of pretty poppies? Maybe I just can't remember that part or maybe this so called "Wicked Witch" isn't that wicked at all.

Now Yzma's "I'll turn him into a flea, a harmless little flea, then I'll put that flea into a box, and than I'll put that box inside of another box, and then I'll mail that box to myself, and when it arrives muwaa ha ha ha, I'll smash it with a hamma!" (Emperor's New Groove) That is a well fleshed out evil plan.

I mean the Wicked Witch did set Scarecrow on fire and had a really evil sounding voice so she gets some points but as far as evil plans go I give her a 5- good use of poisons and surprize but no follow through.

I do have another theory that maybe the movie got it wrong, maybe she said kitties will make them sleep and maybe she wasn't talking about Dorothy and the gang maybe she was talking about me and you. Ok, evidence? When was the last time you resisted not naping with an already napping cat? Is it even an option to not lay down? It is a spell and the main reason why I never did any homework, I was napping... or should I say poisoned?

And Tuesday I sat with a sleeping puppy all day.... yes puppies will make you sleep too!

Get Ready to Rumble

Oh yeah baby, the Winter Olympics are here at last. I am so excited. You may not know but the winter Olympics are my favorite sporting event. Nothing is better. I mean the summer ones are neat, but I am not big on the whole track and field stuff. Oh but winter sports, yippie!

I spent my entire Saturday watching, or at least with the tv on, the Olympics. I don't want to knock the Italians, I mean I married into em', but the opening ceremony... not fabulous. But I did watch faithfully, even when the cows were dancing- that I don't understand. My love for the Olympics runs deep, I watch everything. Of course my favorites are the downhill skiing, the moguls, speed skating, the luge to name a few. But I watch it ALL. From bobsledding, figure skating, cross country skiing even curling. Oh yes I am that big of an Olympic dork. I even watch the emotional pieces that NBC puts together on the athletes. I love this stuff.

In Utah I was totally excited that snowboarding had made it into the Olympics. Way cool. So tonight is the halfpipe, of course it has already taken place but will be shown tonight. My only issue is how much I love all of my other tv. I mean what do I watch, White on the halfpipe (they call him "the flying tomato" he he) or the conclusion to Gray's Anatomy?!? And wed. Project Runway or Olympics- women's downhill, the short track, and my favorite men's moguls???? This is such a big dilemma.

Is it sad that my big dilemma is what to watch on tv at night? Even more sad is that David is coming home on Tuesday and I am blogging about the Olympics and not how much I miss him and love him and can not wait for him to come home. Oh well. Enjoy the Olympics while you can people!

Fun Fact

Well David is out to sea again so there is a lack of exciting news around here. Abbey and Rigbey have not made up just yet, although Abbey has come out of her room. We are making progress. But without David it is a wee bit borning and I must resort to bizzare information that pops up on the AOL welcome screen. At least I thought it was interesting.

Some scientists have found a new creature. Is it a spider, a fish? Oh No! A mammal.
It is a little bit larger than a house cat but has a long bushy tail. It a carnavore and they found it on the island of Borneo.

Isn't that crazy. How many years have we been studying the animal kingdom and new things all the time.

Not only am I going to provide you with a fun fact about new finds in the animal world. I am going to give a geography lesson. If you are wondering where Borneo is it is Indonesia. So now that you are fully informed on the goings on of the world. And I will provide a map.

That is all from the Analee Educational Network. Hope you have a nice day.

2 Thumbs Up

Ok, Mark and Brianne took me to see Ice Age when it came out, because they wanted me to quit talking about how cute the pre-historic squirrel was. And I loved that movie. But I hadn't seen it till I bought it one lonely weekend without David.

Now I am obsessed with it. It is so funny. Seriously if you haven't seen it, then you need to, for reals people. The story isn't like that great (it is no Emperor's New Groove and just for the record I will never abondon that as the funniest animated picture ever), but Ice Age really is too funny. It only got a B from critics, why I just don't know.

If you watch, which you should, you will be given the choice of three favorite characters. I have trouble picking.

First off Manny the Mammoth, yeah the cynical, apathetic mammoth is a classic. If you like witty comments Manny will tickle your funny bone.
---------------------------------
Manny- "That's your shelter?"
Sid- "You're a big guy, you got a lot of wood. I'm a little guy..."
Manny- "You got half a stick."
-----------------------------------------
Head Do Do Bird- "This is our private stock pile for the Ice Age. Sub Artic tempatures will force us under ground for a billion billion years."
Manny- "So you got three melons?"
-----------------------------------------
Manny- "The sooner we find the humans, the sooner I get rid of Stinky Mr. Drool Face... and the baby too."
------------------------------------

Now Scrat. hehehe Scrat is the sabertooth squirrel, he he he if that doesn't make you laugh, he is on an epic hunt for his beloved acorn. he he he it is great. Well he doesn't have any lines except a wonderful array of cute noises and a funny scream.

And then there is Sid the sloth. Wow I love Sid. He has been left behind for the migration because he is annoying. But his warm heart is endearing, and well Sid has a speech impediment he he he, what could be funnier than a sloth with a speech impediment.
--------------------------------------
Sid- "Yummo! A Dandilion!"
---------------------------------------
Sid- (said nonchalantly as if not to understand that meaning of his family's actions) "You should have seen what they did to me last year. They woke up early, quietly tied my hands and feets and gagged me with a field mouse and barricaded the cave door and covered their tracks with water so I would lose their sent and well who needs em."
------------------------------------------
Diego- "Are you calling me a liar?"
Sid- (to Diego) "Noooooo." (to Manny) "I don't like this cat, it reads minds."
----------------------------------------

Oh people Ice Age rocks. If you are looking for a light hearted movie you can watch over and over and over. Yes Ice Age is it. It has a sweet message of accepting people and how important friends and family are. I must warn you that there is a sad scene where we find out why Manny is so moody. There are also some minor historical discrepancies, for instance the Neanderthals have domesticated dogs and only 5 o'clock shadows. But the Ice cave scene more than makes up for any short commings, it is too funny. I truely love this movie it is a great pick.

P.S.- I just touched on the subject of Emperor's New Groove. It is the greatest animated comedy of all time. If you ever get a chance you will not be dissapointed with the perfect comedic timing and wonderful voices David Spade, John Goodman, Eartha Kitt, and Patrick Warburton (Puddy, Elaine's boyfriend of Sienfeld). It is a classic, too funny. And I find that funny lighthearted movies are so good durning stressful times.
