Still Pretending

I remember as a kid, my sister and I did not play video games, play outside games, or even with dolls as much as we used to pretend. Maybe this is why we are the creative people that we are today.

We used to play church, train, boat and our favorite: SCHOOL! I may complain that I had to be all of the 21 students, the teacher next door, the principal and if needed that student's parents; but I liked playing pretend. Except for my talent being spread a little thin, it was fun to be someone else, to really feel like you were somewhere doing something you couldn't do in your real life. In all honesty, I think we went over board. I am talking actually taking math quizes and planing out who would answer what because some kids were smart, dumb, or cheating. But what a blast. I mean the roller skating in the garage to Amy Grant was pretty fun too.

I thought that I had grown out of the pretending thing, but I have realized that I still pretend quiet often. Everytime David puts my wedding rings on I make him pretend he is proposing again, it is silly but I like it. I pretend I am crying to get the cats to come and lay with me which works, but annoys David so we use David's cell phone ring which Abbey cannot resist.

We have also had to throw out the calendar and pretend holidays and special days are on days when David is in port. When we were dating we never got to spend an actual anniversary together so we just called them date nights. I was really excited about this Valentine's Day because I have never had a Valentine and this year and next year David will be gone. On my birthday this year I spent it all alone because David was in school all day and practically all night, we waited till the weekend and by that time it was David's 21st birthday and all his friends wanted to take him out. I was also planning a romantic get away to Galveston to the hotel where we got married for our anniversary but they will be out to sea. They don't even get The 4th of July, crazy. So we will have to pretend it is Valentine's Day and pretend it is our 1 year anniversary. I am just glad we didn't save the cake for 1 year later and then David doesn't get to eat it. I still really want my Valentine's Day or anniversary or birthday, but it just seems as if I will have to continue to pretend untill David gets a shore duty... hopefully soon.

P.S. Yesturday me and David saw a bald eagle flying over the bay near David's base, it was only 15 feet away and looked amazing! If you didn't catch that I SAW A BALD EAGLE!!!!!!! Too cool.
